FUNERAL LEARNING HUB

To further support AFDA members in delivering the highest of care to families and their loved ones AFDA has introduced an online training portal, the Funeral Learning Hub, exclusively for AFDA members. The Funeral Learning Hub provides industry best practice training that is accessible anywhere at anytime to advance the knowledge and expertise of AFDA members to better serve families.

WHO IS THE AFDA?

Formed in 1935, Australian Funeral Directors Association (AFDA) is the peak industry body with Member firms in every State and Territory. AFDA is a public company, limited by guarantee, that is administered by an elected Board with a National Office and six Divisional Offices.

AFDA Member firms are chosen by the majority of families to provide funeral arrangements for their loved ones. AFDA is widely recognised as the authoritative voice on all funeral matters and its key objective is to optimise the funeral experience and ensure quality delivery of service to the wider community by enhancing and promoting professional funeral standards.

WHY USE AN AFDA MEMBER?

Why funerals matter

A funeral service not only gives your family and friends an opportunity to say goodbye but ensures they are in a safe place that allows them to feel supported in their grief.

Arranging a Funeral

Whether a death occurs at home, in hospital or in a public place, the first person who should be contacted is generally the person’s doctor. A doctor must certify that death has occurred. Normally funeral arrangements cannot be completed until the doctor has signed and issued a Death Certificate. The Funeral Director can then take the deceased into their care.

Pre-Planning a Funeral

When faced with having to make funeral arrangements, most people have no prior experience in organising such an event, and little knowledge of what to do. Pre-planning or pre-paying for your funeral can protect your loved ones from unnecessary stress related to making difficult decisions at an emotional time and relieve them from any financial burden.

A TIME TO SAY GOODBYE

‘Your Goodbye’ is about your farewell to family and friends. It’s about the final pages of Your Story, but like any good book it takes input and help from others. Your Goodbye should be a collaboration between you and those you love most, so that when the ink dries on your last page; you can all close the book with a sense of ease, understanding, pride and unwavering love.

Do those that matter the most to you know about all the little things that make up your life? Do you know what matters the most to them? We all may know parts but not the whole.

Every story deserves to be told. It’s what makes us unique. Have the conversation now because it cannot be had once you’re gone.
